Football fans know to look beyond the rushing and passing yardage, to the hidden yardage in penalties, turnovers, special teams, etc -- sometimes the whole story of a game is in those yards and not the ones gained conventionally.
Today I closed on a condo and was introduced to the hidden tax increases that tell the whole story about our supposed tax-cut. Sure, state taxes in Massachusetts have not gone up, but all of the fees associated with buying a property have (from an average of about $40 to an average of about $125, for a total increase of hundreds of dollars). But the big difference was in real estate taxes which are up significantly
(almost $1000/year). So, pay attention to those hidden taxes when you look at your federal income tax break next year.
