Many Pockets, Not Deep Pockets
Howard Dean's campaign is all about mobilizing small contributions from many people. "Many pockets, not deep pockets", that is our goal. While Bush is throwing $2,000 a plate shindigs in NY, Howard Dean is relying on you to give. Please contribute to the campaign today
, before the FEC deadline.
In 2000, Al Gore received about 50 million votes (Bush -- slightly less). If each of those Gore voters gave $5, no one would talk about the supposed money gap. Can you afford $5?
Unfortunately, at this point, Howard Dean isn't going to get the 50 million Gore voters to give him $5, so each Dean supporter must give a little more. There are 35k meetupers -- if we each gave $100, that would be 7 million after the match -- not every one of us can afford $100, but we must give what we can. Ads cost money, flying around the country costs money, and in America today, running a presidential campaign costs a lot of money. Anything you give under $250 will be matched by the FEC. And, Howard Dean is not accepting corporate donations. Show the world that a campaign run this way can win. Show our politicians that they don't need corporate donations. Don't let the Republicans outgive us -- we have the numbers, and we will win.
Give to Howard Dean For America Today
I just got this from the DNC
President Bush and the Republicans are at it again. They commit the worst outrages against the American people, hiding behind patriotism, cutting backroom deals, rejecting compromises -- while counting on you not to pay attention to what they're doing.
GOP CHOOSES MILLIONAIRES OVER MILITARY FAMILIES
To restore $1 billion in critical military housing funds, Democrats proposed a tiny cut to the tax breaks Republicans gave to millionaires.
Republicans refused. They kept the billion dollars in cuts to housing for our men and women in uniform and their families so that those earning more than $1 million or more per year could get $88,326 in tax breaks instead of $83,546.
Think of all of the patriotic rhetoric you've heard from Republicans praising the military before, during, and after the war in Iraq. All of that rhetoric, empty. When it comes to choosing between the military and millionaires, Republicans choose millionaires every time.
Typical of Bush and the GOP -- they are either hiding behind the flag, wrapping themselves in it or putting it over your head. Help the DNC by giving through an e-patriot site, like DailyKOS
-- read about it on the left side of his page. Also, write to your representatives -- how can they cut the housing budget for our brave men and women in uniform?

European Smoking Warnings
I was on vacation for a couple of weeks and just now catching up. Here are some pics from a Duty Free shop in the Amsterdam airport.
They have good intentions, but unfortunately, studies have shown that most smokers over-estimate the health risks of smoking -- they just don't care. I've made my own warning to put some fear into Old Europe.
