Boston Dean Party
Ok, I'm getting over Dean's Red Sox problem.
I drove 100 miles this morning to volunteer at Copley Sq. and watch Dean speak. I helped hang signs and was one of the holders for a giant "People Powered Howard" sign in the back. It wasn't a great place to hear the speech -- I was getting a few reverberations off the square's buildings and the stiff wind and the fact that I was holding what was essentially a sail made it hard to pay attention.
In the end, I went to try to get a picture of the Governor, but actually got a picture of his brother, who, as you can see, looks a lot like him.
All in all, I had a good time though. Driving back in pouring rain was rough, but that's better than standing it would have been.
Go to the official blog to read excerpts of the speech
Dean says he's a Red Sox fan (changed from a Yankee fan years ago). Kerry says it's indefensible. He's right, but what does he know -- he's a stupid Red Sox fan.
To Dean and Kerry I say:
Dean in Boston
Tomorrow, I'm going to Boston to see Dean speak at Copley Sq. I got a message from Students for Kerry telling me to show Dean that Boston is Kerry country. I have no doubt that it is, but I got curious and went to the Kerry site. For one, the hammer internet fund-raising gimmick is not prominently displayed, and it does not show the amount raised so far. You have to click the graphic to slam the hammer (so far they are at 119k).
But this is far more lame: The blog is touting how well Kerry was received in NH towns on the Vermont border
. Take that Dean. NH towns on the border of your state came out to see Kerry -- sheesh.
Also, the blog comments are in reverse chronological order, so you can't read them top to bottom.
And, some Kerry aide is calling Dean a Yankee fan
(and has proof). That makes up for the Mets gaffe below.
That's all I'm going to say about Kerry, who I actually like.
The Bat is Back
Even though the bat is referencing the much reviled NY Mets slogan "You gotta believe", I still feel compelled to point out that it is back. I do not guarantee that I can do so if they reference the Sox.
