From the "both ignorant and an asshole"
file, Josh Marshall
tells us about GOPUSA's take on George Soros
No other single person represents the symbol and the substance of Globalism more than this Hungarian-born descendant of Shylock. He is the embodiment of the Merchant from Venice.
The rest is more bigoted nonsense (spurred on by Soros's support of MoveOn.org, no doubt). It should be noted that Shylock is not the
Merchant from Venice, a fact that should be fairly obvious even if you have not read the play, and as long as you are not an idiot. There's hardly any drama in lending money to yourself and then demanding repayment in flesh, even if there's a crossdresser in the courtroom scene -- oh wait
Gov. Mitt Romney on the Ruling
I disagree with the Supreme Judicial Court. Marriage is an institution between a man and a woman. I will support an amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution to make that expressly clear. Of course, we must provide basic civil rights and appropriate benefits to nontraditional couples, but marriage is a special institution that should be reserved for a man and a woman.
This is why you never vote for Republicans, no matter how moderate they seem. He has aspirations for a national ticket, so he can't take a stand. Bay Staters don't agree so he can't think this will help him in the next election. Tell him what you think
I know, I know, Finneran's a Democrat. Well, you should never vote for him either.
The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples are legally entitled to wed under the state constitution. But Speaker Finneran, a Democrat, is opposed to gay marriage and will probably attempt an amendment. Other attempts at subverting this ruling in the legislature have been defeated -- so hopefully they will not succeed this time either.
