Deval Patrick in the Berkshires
Michael has information about a Deval Patrick fundraiser in Great Barrington
on August 7th.
That reminds me -- I went to Pittsfield last week to see the Democratic State Committee meeting, Tom Reilly and to do visibility and outreach for Deval Patrick. Not much to report other than the buzz was clearly with Deval -- many volunteers showed up (including myself) and there was an active table, bright-green convention t-shirt-wearing-supporters, visibilities on the road leading to the meeting, etc.
Reilly gave a speech to open the meeting, which was about par for him, but there was no presence (visibility, supporters, buzz, etc) at the meeting except for a flyer I saw going around which paradoxically writes off Deval and elevates him (by publishing one-on-one poll results). It had a tongue-in-cheek "10 things you didn't know about Tom Reilly" that was disappointing, because (a) it wasn't funny, (b) I really wanted to know more about him and (c) I want to feel better about his campaign.
Everyone I've ever met in the Patrick campaign has nothing but respect for Tom Reilly. As a Democrat, I want him to be a more effective candidate, even as I hope to beat him. A primary is a great time to amplify opposition to the incumbent and hone skills for the general, and we Democrats need Reilly to get better at it.
